Philosophy
~Artist Statement~

My name is Daisuke Takayanagi. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) with a BFA degree in Graphic Design. During the college years, I created various kinds of designs, brochures, letterhead for fictitious business identities, magazine layouts, posters, and advertising banners. Most of the artwork that I created were assigned in class. These assignments challenged and advanced my knowledge and capability in this field.

Now, the more involved I become in graphic design, the more aware I become of the critical balance between text and image. I always try to come up with a design that contains multiple levels of complexity. The biggest challenge throughout my life in graphic design is finding the medium between simple and complex and it is always a goal I hope to achieve. I think graphic design is a journey. By designing a two-dimensional flat paper, I can bring atmosphere from all regions of the world. By pushing the design further, I'm trying to reach the edge … of both the page and of thought.
